Heating instructions to Menu 29th June

Mexican Taco Meal with Plenty of Fillings, Mole and Salsa

Storage Instructions

Upon receiving your meals, store them into the fridge if you are planning to eat later.

Some work will be required to enjoy your tacos.

Warm your hand-made corn tortillas

You need to warm your corn tortillas. Tacos are infinitely better when the tortilla is warm and slightly crispy. Better flavor, better texture. You have 3 choices: skillet, oven, or microwave.

  • Skillet (preferred)

Simply heat up a dry skillet on the stovetop over medium to medium-high heat. And by dry I mean no oil required! Give your tortillas 30-60 seconds per side or until they get warm and slightly crispy.

  • Oven

Wrap up your corn tortillas in some foil and stick them in the oven — somewhere around 170-180 degrees Celsius. They’ll need about 5-10 minutes in the oven, depending on how big the stack is, and you’ll get a similar result as using the microwave. They’ll be warm and pliable, but without the crispy edges you get from the skillet.

  • Microwave

Add a stack of corn tortillas to a plate, cover with a damp paper towel, and microwave them for 60 seconds or so.This is the modern, hurried version of warming up corn tortillas.

Customize your filling

  1. Open up your tortilla and fill it up: spread refried beans in centre from one side of the tortilla to other. The refried beans are very tasty and will be the glue for your filling!

  2. Place which filling you want, cauliflower and broccoli or mushroom, cherry tomatoes and Onion. There is homemade pickled red onion and chilli (in the bento) for those that want a bit more of a kick.

  3. Add your toppings! Guacamole (dished in the bento) , pineapple pico de Gallo (in separate pot) and sour cream (in separate pot). Garnish with coriander. Try mix and matching your toppings to experiment and customise your own taco!

  4. Must use your hands! Take your finger and thumb to hold at the center of the taco.

  5. Bite from the side, not the top, not the middle.
